11,000 SWITCHES ON CABLE ACCESS (CRUIKSHANK)

The video was made at the Cruikshank Cable Access Studio May 31, 1987; musicians were Uncle Dave Lewis, Dan Williams, Christopher Mark Lewis and Julia Heather Prescott. Tom Mulroy was the director but Dan and I set up the chroma-key. This same night Manwich also made a video but it was promptly bulked accidentally by Cruikshank staffers in need of tape to further compile UFO conspiracy theory programming; no one even got to see it. I cannot be sure of the first airdate because it was on even before I knew it was airing and I never had the pleasure of seeing the thing on cable. The songs are “Billy Linich,” “Detour” and “Charles Manson on Fire.” “Billy Linich” was a relatively new song at the time and the other two were older.

The ED DAVIS BAND at their last gig, playing KEITH RICHARDS’ DEAD, the first single on what was to become Jess Hirbe’s SHAKE IT RECORDS. Recorded at a party at the WE’RE JUST LIKE YOU loft in Cincinnati, Ohio, June 2, 1979, on PortaPak video, an early Sony reel-to-reel format. THE CUSTOMS, later a SHAKE IT RECORDS primo rockablilly act, filled out the bill.
